Gov’t provides rice relief to 14 storm-hit localities
VGP - The Government has decided to allocate 200 tons of rice relief for 14 localities affected by typhoon Yagi.
Specifically, the food aid will be allocated to the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to support the disaster-ravaged provinces including Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son.
The work will be finalized before September 12.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested quick delivery of food and essential supplies to the people hit by super typhoon Yagi.
The governmental leader demanded that the ministers of national defense and public security order related units to actively work with the affected localities to quickly deliver food, essential supplies, and clean water to residents in isolated areas and those in need as soon as possible in order to quickly stabilize economic activities and people's life, ensure no one is left hungry, cold, homeless, or without clean water or health care, and enable students to soon go back to school.
Storm No. 3 and its aftermath have caused widespread heavy rainfall in the northern region, especially in mountainous and midland provinces, resulting in severe damage to life, property, production, and livelihoods.
The Presidium of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on September 10 launched a campaign to call on individuals, organizations, and businesses, both at home and abroad, to support Yagi typhoon victims./.
