Gov't plans to step up fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

VGP - Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has recently signed for issuance of a Plan to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

The plan was issued as smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods have been on the rise in the post-pandemic time. 

Smuggled commodities often include consumer goods, petroleum, minerals, fertilizers, plant protection chemicals, timber and wood products, pharmaceutical products and raw materials, dietary supplements, cosmetics, medical supplies, garment products and materials, iron, steel, building materials, mechanics, electronics, components electronic accessories, mobile phones, precious metals, gems, foreign currency, alcohol, beer, milk, sugar, tobacco, drugs, weapons, firecrackers, materials and wild animals.

Recent cases of smuggling occured in provinces and cities like Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Son La, Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Bai Ria-Vung Tau, HCMC, Tien Giang, Long An, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Ca Mau, An Giang and Kien Giang. 

Preventive measures will be taken to manage and inspect the issuance of e-invoices in a bid to timely disclose and prevent illegal trading of e-invoices for tax evasion. 

Police forces will craft plans to smash trafficking rings, especially those involving in smuggling oil and petrol, minerals, steel, electronic products, furniture, pharmacy, functional food, beverage, and fertilizers. 

The Ministry of Public Security will closely coordinate with People's Procuracies and People's Courts to promptly prosecute  smuggling cases.   

Inspections will be conducted at bus stations, train stations, harbors in order to promptly detect and resolutely refuse transportation of goods without invoices and clear certificates of  origin.

The plan will be implemented from September 15, 2022 to September 15, 2025./.
