Gov't orders strengthening efforts to combat cross-border animal trafficking
VGP – The Government has ordered authorities to strengthen efforts in combatting cross-border traffficking of animals and products made from them.
In an official telegram addressed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Information and Communications, and Chairmen of provincial/municipal People's Committees, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh tasked them to seriously and effectively implement the Directive No. 29/CT-TTg dated December 6, 2023 of the Prime Minister on prevention of cross-border transportation of animals and products made from them.
The Government chief tasked Chairmen to further enhance inspection and control, particularly at border crossings, seaports, and waterways in order tp prevent, detect and strictly fine individuals and organization involving trafficking and illegal transportation of animals and products into Viet Nam.
All and products must be destroyed immediately, the Prime Minister demanded.
Local authorities must strengthen information dissemination on the danger and consequences of illegal transportation of unquarantined animals and products and encourage residents not to join illegal transportation and consumption of animals and products into Viet Nam.
Local authorities have to set up inspection teams to control and prevent trafficking and illegal transportation of animals and products into Viet Nam./.
