Gov't lowers tariffs on various imports from March 31

VGP - The Government has decided to reduce import tariffs on various items, including cars, wood, ethanol, frozen chicken thighs, rice paper, almonds, cherries, and grapes from March 31, 2025.

Accordingly, the preferential import duty for cars (HS codes 8703.23.63 and 8703.23.57) shall be reduced to 50 percent from 64 percent, while cars under HS code 8703.24.51 shall be 32 percent instead of 45 percent.

The import duty for ethanol shall be decreased to 5 percent from 10 percent.

The import duty on frozen chicken thighs shall be reduced to 15 percent from 20 percent.

The import duty on pistachio (unpeeled) shall be decreased from 15 percent to 5 percent; almonds from 10 percent to 5 percent; fresh apples from 8 percent to 5 percent; cherries from 10 percent to 5 percent; dried grapes from 12 percent to 5 percent.   

The import duty on liquefied natural gas (LNG) shall be reduced to 2 percent from 5 percent.

Ethane products (HS code 2711.19.00) shall be subject to a zero preferential import tax rate.

The import tariff on corn products and soybean oil products shall be reduced to zero from respectively 2 percent and from 1-2 percent.

This decree takes effect from March 31, 2025./.
