At the meeting between PM Phuc and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman, the Vietnamese leader appreciated the WEF’s close coordination in working with Viet Nam to build the theme, content, and agenda of the WEF ASEAN, which matches global trends and meets ASEAN countries’ interests, asking the WEF to support Viet Nam’s ideas and initiatives in terms of promoting ASEAN-WEF cooperation in the time ahead.

He expressed thanks to Mr. Schwab for supporting the implementation of the WEF’s cooperation agreement with Viet Nam, proposing the WEF actively assist and advise Viet Nam on how to improve its readiness to effectively participate in Industry 4.0.

For his side, Mr. Schwab thanked the Vietnamese Government for supporting and closely working with the WEF to prepare for the upcoming forum, expressing his belief that the event will be successful.

He spoke highly of the cooperation agreement signed with VietNam at the WEF in Davos in 2017, stressing that Viet Nam is the first country in the region that the WEF has signed a cooperation deal with.

The WEF will continue working with Viet Nam to realize this agreement and connect Viet Nam with the global business community, including the world’s leading enterprises – of whom many are WEF members, he added.

Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue highly valued WEF’s consultancy for Viet Nam in establishing the contents, theme and agenda of the WEF on ASEAN 2018 while receiving WEF President Borge Brende.

Viet Nam is a responsible member of the ASEAN Community, asserted Mr. Hue, expressing his hope that the WEF and the President will pay attention to proposals of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the future of the WEF and ASEAN.

Mr. Borge Brende said that businesses joining the WEF ASEAN 2018 expressed their delight on the event, forecasting that Viet Nam’s economic growth may reach around 7% this year and the value of Vietnamese stock market has doubled over the recent two years.

The WEF expected that Viet Nam will enhance renovation in the fourth industrial revolution and WEF is willing to support Viet Nam to set up a digital economy in the bases of science and technology.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM suggested the WEF assist Viet Nam in establishing a renovation center to support and nurture start-up in Viet Nam.
