Gov't fixes deadline for completion of circuit-3 500kv transmission line
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered that the construction of circuit-3 500kv transmission line must be completed in June this year.
The order was made at Pham's meeting with leaders of the National Power Transmission Corporation, an affiliate of the Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN), and nine localities namely Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh on Sunday.
The transmission line spans 519km from the central province of Quang Binh's Quang Trach District to the northern province of Hung Yen's Pho Noi.
The project, with total investment capital of nearly US$1 billion, is of significant to enhancing the capacity of the 500kv north-central power transmission grid, contributing to ensuring power supply for the northern region.
It will also help improve the stability and operation of the national power system and reduce the risk of overload for existing 500kV transmission lines.
Viet Nam completed the construction of the first circuit-1 500kv north-south transmission line in 1994, which is the first 500kv super high-voltage power transmission line in Viet Nam with a total leng of 1,487km, running from the northern province of Hoa Binh to the southern metropolis Ho Chi Minh City.
The 500kv north-south transmission line targets to distribute excess electricity from northern Viet Nam (from Hoa Bin and Thac Ba hydroelectric plants, and Pha Lai, Uong Bi, Ninh Binh thermal power plants) to supply the South and Central Viet Nam as the southern and central regions were facing serious electricity shortages./.
