Gov’t determined to break ground on Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway project in December
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested the Ministry of Construction to promptly finalize the feasibility study for the Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway project and start construction on December 19, 2025.

The Prime Minister made the request while chairing a meeting on September 7 with ministries, sectors, and agencies to review the implementation of the Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong line, along with several railway lines connecting to China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Construction were assigned to work with the Chinese side to select consultants.
The 403-km railway line is expected to meet the growing demand for passenger and freight transport along the country's second-largest economic corridor.
Total investment capital for the project is estimated at over VND 194.9 trillion (US$7.46 billion)./.
