Gov't demands safety inspection of all tourist vessels in Ha Long Bay
VGP – The Government has urged the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to carry out safety inspection of all tourist vessels operating in Ha Long Bay – a well-known tourist site in Northern Viet Nam.

The move was made after a tourist boat caught fire in Ha Long Bay last week.
The Government requested the local authorities to resolutely suspend the operation of vessels that fail to meet regulations on safety and technical conditions
On February 27, the tourist vessel Signature QN-7269 caught fire near Hang Co in Ha Long Bay. The wooden-hulled boat, designed to carry up to 48 passengers, is owned by Ha Long Wonder International Tourist Joint Stock Company.
There were 41 people on board at the time, including 28 foreign tourists from the United States, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, India and Portugal, two Vietnamese tourists and 11 crew members.
According to authorities, the captain and crew evacuated all passengers promptly after detecting the fire. No casualties were reported and all those on board were said to be in stable condition./.
