Gov’t chief receives Egyptian and Mongolian Ambassadors

Raising Viet Nam-Egypt trade value to US$ 1 billion  

The host leader congratulated Egypt on its achievements in maintaining political stability, socio-economic development and COVID-19 containment while receiving Egyptian Ambassador Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama. 

He praised Egypt’s role and position in Africa and the world, especially at regional and international forums like the United Nations (UN), the African Union (EU) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The Prime Minister said that he was pleased to witness the positive developments in the Viet Nam-Egypt relations, especially in politics-diplomacy, trade and education, adding that the two countries have actively supported each other at multilateral forums.

Inspite of the pandemic, the relations have still grown, as reflected through the two-way trade revenue jumping from US$ 491 million in 2019 to US$ 515 million in 2020.  

He suggested the two countries coordinate in organizing activities marking the 60th founding anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties in 2023. 

There are wide doors for the two countries to cement and deepen the relationship, said Prime Minister Pham. 

He took the occasion to call upon the two countries to work harder to advance the relationship in a more intensive, pragmatic and effective manner through enhancing delegation exchanges and meetings at international conferences, improving the role and efficiency of cooperation mechanisms, particularly the inter-governmental committee, and working together to raise the two-way trade to US$1 billion.

The Government chief also hoped that Egypt will maintain Arabic language scholarships for Vietnamese students, consider scholarships on Halal standards for Vietnamese officials, help promote Vietnamese traditional martial arts in Africa, and promote tourism exchanges between the two countries. 

In reply, the Ambassador expressed her impressions on Viet Nam’s achievements in the pandemic fight and socio-economic recovery and development.  

The ambassador said she hopes that with its role in the UN and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Viet N am will make more contributions to peace, friendship and cooperation in the region and the world.

The diplomat also said that Egypt will host the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27), and the country wishes to invite the Prime Minister to the event.

Viet Nam, Mongolia to convene Inter-governmental committee this August 

At a reception for Mongolian Ambassador Jigjee Sereejav, Prime Minister Pham highlighted the traditional relationship and mutual support between the two countries during the sides' causes of national construction and development.

The two countries should increase goods exchange, organize trade and investment promotion activities to further raise the bilateral trade, and launch more air routes, the Prime Minister suggested. 

The host leader proposed the two countries should beef up cooperation in national defence and security, especially after they signed an agreement on defence cooperation and another on information protection and exchange, and coordinate in organizing the 18th meeting of the Viet Nam-Mongolia inter-governmental committee in Mongolia this August. 

In reply, the Mongolian ambassador said he considered Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements as valuable lessons for Mongolia, highly valuing Viet Nam’s policy of being a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, for peace, friendship, cooperation and development in the world.

Sereejav pledged to do his best to contribute to elevating the Viet Nam-Mongolia relations to new heights during his office term in Viet Nam./.
