General Secretary: Viet Nam to have 34 localities
VGP – The Party Central Committee has agreed to reduce the number of localities to 34 from current 63, General Secretary To Lam said on Saturday.
The agreement was reached at the 13th Party Central Committee's 11th plenum, which took place in Ha Noi from April 10-13.
The Party also agreed to reorganize the local-level administration system into two-tier levels (provincial and communal levels).
With this orientation, the district-level administrations shall be dissolved after the National Assembly approved the new Constitution amending and supplementing several articles of the 2013 Constitution and the 2025 Law on Organization of Local Administrations.
Regarding growth model for the next period, the Party Central Committee agreed that science, technology, innovation and digital transformation will be one of the most important drivers of the national economy.
The Party Central Committee agreed to enhance the Party's leadership and State's management over private economic sector./.
