Specifically, in 2016, export turnover of fruits and vegetables hit US$ 2.4 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 33.6%. In 2017, the sector earned US$ 3.5 billion of export turnover, posting a sharp increase of 42.5%. In 2018, overseas shipment of fruits and vegetables valued US$ 3.52 billion, up 10.8% against 2017. With over US$ 3.5 billion of export, fruit and vegetable commodities outstripped tea, pepper, and rice.

Vietnamese fruits and vegetables are available in China, the U.S., Southeast Asian countries, the EU, the Republic of Korea, and Japan with over US$ 100 million of export turnover each. China occupied the largest proportion of export by holding 73% of the market share with US$ 2.78 billion, up 5.03% against 2017.
