After qualifications are over, FINA has announced universality places for National Olympic Committees. Following the regulation, NOCs with a qualified athlete of one gender may enter one universality swimmer of the other gender.

Viet Nam has had Nguyen Huy Hoang to compete in the men's events. Therefore, FINA offers one place for a female swimmer and Tien, 18, has been selected based on her highest ranking among Vietnamese competitors at the Olympic qualifiers.

She was also the only female swimmer qualified and took part in the World Swimming Championships 2023, a mandatory condition to receive an Olympic wildcard.

FINA will announce its official athletes list on July 3 but as Vietnamese players will no longer compete in any international tournament so this wildcard would definitely belongs to Tien who is strong in freestyle events.

The Viet Nam Aquatic Sports Association has also confirmed Tien's qualification.

Prior to her, 13 athletes have received their spots. Among them are cyclist, swimmer, badminton players, boxers, archer, shooters, weightlifter, rower, judo martial artist and canoeist.

Viet Nam is still waiting for a wildcard in athletics as runner Tran Thi Nhi Yen is expected to take the honour./.
