Foreign Minister meets Japanese counterpart
VGP - Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with his Japanese counterpart Hayashi Yoshimasa, on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-56) in Jakarta on July 13 (local time).
The two mininisters agreed to accelerate the exchanges of high-level delegations and coordinate to organize cultural events between localities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - 2023), toward consolidating mutual trust and upholding the Viet Nam –Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership.
They pledged to effectively implement the outcomes of the summit meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in Hiroshima last May.
The pair also agreed to boost the implementation of the agreement on new-generation official development assistance (ODA), and facilitate Viet Nam's access to development assistance packages designed for high-quality infrastructure and energy transition, and simplifying visa issuance procedures for Vietnamese citizens.
Both sides were unanimous in beefing up coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums, including ASEAN-led mechanisms and Mekong sub-regional cooperation./.
