The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 7th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting that was held in Bagan, Myanmar on July 4.

At the meeting, Bui expressed his hope to promote the relations between the two Parties and countries in a healthy, sustainable and long-term manner with increasing political trust and practical and effective cooperation.

He suggested both nations increase visits and meetings at all levels, hoping that China will continue to facilitate import of Vietnamese products, especially farm products and seafood.

Bui emphasized the need to closely coordinate in combating COVID-19, resuming commercial flights between the two countries and strengthening border road and railway infrastructure connectivity.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the Vietnamese diplomat suggested that both sides continue to effectively implement their high-level agreements and perceptions and respect each other's legitimate interests in line with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

The two nations should fully and effectively enforce the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and work towards conclusion of a practical and effective Code of Conduct (COC) in line with international law, thus contributing to maintenance of peace and stability in the East Sea, said Bui.

For his part, Wang affirmed that the Party and State of China attach importance to fostering and developing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Viet Nam.

China hopes to enhance political trust, deepen win-win cooperation and satisfactorily handle disagreements with Viet Nam, Wang said, adding that his country is willing to promote exchanges and meetings at all levels via flexible manners.

Wang affirmed China's consistent guideline of opening its market for high-quality products from other countries in the region, especially ASEAN nations.

China spoke highly of Viet Nam's role in the global supply chain and expects to coordinate with Viet Nam in economy, trade and investment to ensure the stability of the global supply chain, he added./.
