Foreign Minister holds phone conversations with Malaysian, Lao counterparts

During the phone call with his Malaysian counterpart, Le congratulated Malaysia on its excellent fulfilment of the ASEAN Chairmanship this year.
The Malaysian diplomat, for his part, reiterated that Malaysia will continue assisting Viet Nam in developing the Halal industry and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The two ministers vowed to continue working closely to further enhance the Viet Nam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and convene the eighth meeting of the joint commission soon to officially adopt the 2026–2030 action plan for implementing the partnership framework.
They underlined the need to raise bilateral trade to US$20 billion in a more balanced manner, while promoting collaboration in fisheries and expediting the signing of a renewed memorandum of understanding on cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, and food security.
The pair exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, voicing deep concern over the tensions between Cambodia and Thailand.
They pledged to continue coordinating closely with other ASEAN Member States to uphold intra-bloc solidarity, and promote ASEAN centrality and mechanisms to encourage Cambodia and Thailand to exercise restraint, refrain from the use of force, engage in dialogue, and resolve the dispute peacefully, thereby contributing to peace, stability, security, and development in the region and the world.
At the conversation with the Lao official, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister stressed that the recent visits made by General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Laos marked an important milestone, opening up a new chapter and elevating relations between the two Parties and the two countries to new heights.
Both sides promised to advance the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two foreign ministries for the 2026-2030 period.
The two ministers vowed to maintain close coordination in the time ahead and to expand cooperation under the new cooperation framework and orientation, underscoring the significance of the two countries' "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion".
They affirmed that the new relationship framework embodies a shared vision, intertwined strategic interests and a long-term commitment to sustainable development, resilience and shared prosperity of both peoples.
They affirmed to continue active consultations and close coordination on matters of mutual interest in the region, particularly within ASEAN, for peace, stability and sustainable development./.
