Foreign Minister holds phone call with Kuwaiti counterpart

The two foreign ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive progress in the bilateral relations, particularly in 2026 as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties (January 10, 1976–January 10, 2026).
They pledged to effectively implement the commitments and agreements reached by their senior leaders, including the action program for the implementation of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership, while promoting exchanges of high-level delegations and contacts in the coming period.
Regarding energy cooperation, Le urged the Kuwaiti Government to direct the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) to work closely in advancing the establishment of a regional strategic petroleum reserve in Viet Nam to ensure a stable crude oil supply.
He also called for stronger collaboration with the Vietnamese side and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the operation of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, a flagship project symbolizing the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Le reiterated the principled stance of Viet Nam and ASEAN, expressed concern over the increasingly complex situation in the region, and conveyed sympathy over the losses suffered by Kuwait and other countries in the region.
He reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent position that all differences and disputes should be resolved via peaceful means in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law.
The top Vietnamese diplomat also underscored the importance of ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as maintaining the stability of global energy supply chains, expressing his hope that peace, security, and stability would soon be restored in the region.
The two ministers vowed to continue close coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations, while strengthening connectivity between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and ASEAN, thereby contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and beyond./.
