Foreign Minister attends State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London
VGP - Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, authorized by Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, attended the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London, the UK, on September 19.
Earlier, the Vietnamese diplomat attended a reception for representatives from nations hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on September 18 night, and later, another reception hosted by British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly at Westminster Abbey right after the funeral.
Within the framework of the funeral, Bui paid courtesy visits to King Charles III and British Prime Minister Lizz Truss, and met cabinet's members.
He extended his deep condolences of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders to the British King, Royal Family, Government and peoples.
Bui spoke highly of the Queen's role in the prosperous development and status of the UK, highlighting the valuable support of the Queen in fostering Viet Nam-UK relations.
He expressed his hope that the British Royal Family and Government will continue enhancing the development of the country and advocate promoting the Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties by 2023.
The Vietnamese FM had meetings with leaders of other nations attending the funeral of the Queen.
