Foreign experts with short-term Viet Nam stay exempted from centralized quarantine

VGP – Viet Nam has lifted the 14-day quarantine for foreign experts, investors, managers, and diplomats entering the country for less than 14 days.

Question: (Ms. Le Thu Trang from Hai Phong) I want to invite foreign experts from the Republic of Korea to come to Viet Nam to install equipment at my factory at the end of September. How long will these foreign experts have to stay in centralized quarantine facilities? Does my company prepare quarantine areas for them or do they have to undergo quarantine at centralized facilities?

Answer

According to the Ministry of Health, Viet Nam has pursued the ‘dual goals’ of combating disease and ensuring economic growth.

Over the past time, Viet Nam has offered favorable regulations for foreign investors and experts to enter the country.

Earlier, on September 15, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh agreed to resume international commercial air routes between Viet Nam and her partners, including the RoK.

Foreign experts are exempted from quarantine at centralized facilities if they stay in Viet Nam less than 14 days. However, they have to comply with all other requirements, including wearing a mask and refraining from shaking hands to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

They also need to complete medical procedures, including tests for COVID-19 every two days.

The organization that invites them needs to guarantee that it, or an international insurance company, will bear all medical and other expenses if they contract the disease in Viet Nam.

Regarding those entering Viet Nam (over 14 days), foreign experts have to register quarantine sites (hotels or designated sites of local authorities) and present COVID-19 negative certificates three to five days before arrival.  Those tested positive for the novel coronavirus will be admitted to medical centers for treatment; while those reporting negative results twice can switch from centralized quarantine sites to isolation at home or their place of work or a hotel until they complete the 14-day quarantine period./.
