Flag raising ceremony marks historic day of ASEAN Community

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh said December 31, 2015 is the historic day of all ASEAN member States as that the dream of a hamorninous Community of Southeast Asian peoples has finally come true.

The formation of the ASEAN Community came as a result of hard work by all Southeast Asian countries. Our efforts to promote peace, friendship, cooperation and development for all people are the determinant factors for ASEAN’ success today, he said.

The ASEAN Community will lead the regional cooperation and connectivity to a new and more extensive stage, uphold the ASEAN centrality and its active role amid growing cooperation and connectivity trend in the region and the world.

He took the occasion to extend sincere thanks to friends across the world and hope for their continued support and assistance to the bloc in general and Viet Nam in particular.

Deputy PM, FM Minh stressed that ASEAN has consistently been and will remain a pillar of Viet Nam’s foreign policyand the country committed to making active and responsible contribution to ASEAN cooperation, contributing to the successful development of the ASEAN Community.

He expressed his belief that ASEAN will fullfil the set goals and successfully build up a peaceful, stable, self-reliant, and intensively integrated community which can effectively cope with challenge and be a constructive player in the global community./.
