Flag hoisting ceremony marks ASEAN’s 48th anniversary

VGP – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 7 in Ha Noi hosted a ceremony to fly the ASEAN flag to mark the bloc's 48th founding anniversary (August 8, 1967) and the 20th anniversary of Viet Nam’s ASEAN membership (July 29, 1995).

The ASEAN flag will be raised by all ASEAN members to express their solidarity and determination to build an ASEAN community by 2015.

The ASEAN flag symbolizes the members’ unity and support for their shared principles and endeavors. It represents a stable, peaceful, united and dynamic ASEAN.

The event drew the attendance of Deputy FM Dang Minh Khoi, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep, Ambassador of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Jorge Rondon Uzcategui who is Deputy Chief of the foreign diplomat corp in Viet Nam, and representatives of ASEAN Embassies in Ha Noi./.
