The policy aims to ensure that all children in the age group access education, limit dropouts and increase school attendance rates.

Currently, around 93.1 percent of children aged 3-5 attend preschool education. For five-year-olds, the rate is at 99.8 percent.

Viet Nam had over 15,000 nurseries and kindergartens for the 2022-2023 school year, with over 5 million kindergarteners in attendance.

In 2024, several localities have introduced tuition exemption policies for general education, aiming to alleviate the burdens on families and reduce the number of students dropping out of schools.

Since January 2018, tuition exemption policy has been applied to 5-year-old children in areas of difficult socio-economic conditions./.
