FDI disbursement up 16.2% in Jan-Sept period
VGP - Disbursed volume of foreign investment capital totalled US$15.4 billion in January-September period , up 16.2 percent on year, reported the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).
As of September 20, the Southeast Asian nation raked in nearly US$18.7 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), down 15.3 percent year-on-year.
The aforesaid figure includes US$7.12 billion poured in 1,355 newly-licensed projects, down 43 percent in terms of capital and up 11.8 percent in terms of the number of projects.
As many as 769 projects increased investment capital by US$8.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29.9 percent while the volume of capital contributions and share purchases by foreign investors increased by 1.9 percent to US$3.28 billion.
Among 18 sectors attracting FDI, processing and manufacturing sector took the lead with US$12.1 billion, accounting for 64.6 percent of the total foreign investment inflows.
It was followed by real estate, science and technology and retail sales with US$3.5 billion, US$676.9 million and US$617.9 million, respectively.
Singapore topped the list of nations and territories pouring capital in Viet Nam over the reviewed period, with US$4.75 billion, accounting for 25.3 percent of the total, followed by the Republic of Korea (US$3.8 billion) and Japan (US$1.9 billion)./.
