Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said due to domestic and international difficulties and complications, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first three months was estimated at US$ 11.19 billion, down 14.4 percent over the same period in 2022.

"MARD determines that 2023 will be a tough year. Therefore, it is necessary to consider synchronous and flexible solutions, innovative thinking, and achieve real results to open the market as a priority task," emphasized the Deputy Minister.

MARD will focus on many tasks and solutions to achieve the big growth target.

For the horticulture sector, MARD focus on capturing the output of crucial fruit trees for export, such as dragon fruit, longan, mango, and durian, to propose planting crops suitable for the consumer market, with reasonable selling prices and high economic efficiency.

The livestock and veterinary industries closely monitor the market movements of raw materials, supply and prices of feed ingredients, and livestock breeds to take timely measures and avoid a sudden price increase.

For the fisheries sector, the ministry requests to inspect and monitor the implementation of the local fisheries law on IUU; monitor weather developments; forecast fishing grounds and market demand, to promptly direct the production, aquaculture and exploitation of aquatic products effectively.

Solutions for international cooperation and market development to promote agricultural product consumption include promoting market development, removing barriers; supporting enterprises to sign new export orders; participating in promotional events./.
