Education initiative for sustainable development launched
VGP – The Ministry of Education and Training, UNESCO Office and Samsung launched the Education Initiative for Sustainable Development in Ha Noi on March 15.

Climate change adaptation, natural disaster prevention and mitigation are the common tasks which require strong will at both local and national levels, stressed Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien.
Korean Ambassador Ha Chan Ho said that Vietnamese young generations need to be aware of climate change since their childhood. This initiative is a typical model of global cooperation in building societies highly resilient to climate change.
Ms. Katherine Muller Marin, Head of UNESCO Office in Viet Nam said the initiative is part of an agreement between UNESCO and Samsung.
Action Plan on Sustainable Development
Earlier this year, PM Nguyen Tan Dung approved the National Action Plan on Sustainable Development with 11 crucial missions, from now till 2015.
Topping these missions is completing the sustainable development mechanism and improving the national governance on sustainable development.
The PM asked ministries, departments and localities to set up their own programs and action plans to realize the Sustainable Development Strategy and criteria to supervise and evaluate sustainable development.
In the phase from 2013-2015, the Ministry of Planning and Investment will establish a supervision and evaluation system for sustainable development; a program to support the building and implementation of communal sustainable development models and a project to build a Green Growth Center at regional level.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will focus on creating stable jobs.
The Ministry of Finance will carry out a program for establishment of clean energy development models and project to develop a counseling and technical assistance network.
The Ministry of Construction will realize a program to support the building of ecological village models./.
