Large-scaled projects are underway in Dung Quất EZ

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on January 20 approved a new master scheme to developing the Dung Quất EZ till 2025.

Accordingly, the Economic Zone will focus on petroleum and medical industries, heavy industries such as steel metallurgy, shipbuilding, and deep-water ports.

In addition, by 2025, Dung Quất EZ will become an industrial city, a national petrochemical hub, and a center of seaport services of the Central key economic region.

It is expected that the EZ will have a population of 482,000 by 2025, of which 310,000 will live in urban areas.

After 14 years of development, Dung Quất EZ has become one of the leading and most successful economic zones in the country, with an average annual growth rate of 18.53% in the 2006-2010 period.

Dung Quất EZ is the first heavy industry complex in Việt Nam with an oil refinery, a heavy equipment manufacturing factory, a PP plastic factory, and a steel factory.

To date, the Dung Quất Economic Zone has attracted 113 investment projects with total registered capital of around US $9.2 billion, of which US $5 billion was disbursed, and 12,000 jobs were created./.
