DPM meets WEF President

VGP – Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on January 21 held a working session with President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Borge Brende and attended the Announcement Ceremony of finalizing the Viet Nam-WEF cooperation agreement within the framework of the WEF.

At the meeting, Binh spoke highly of the WEF’s coordination in successfully launching the Viet Nam-WEF cooperation agreement, asserting that the Agreement has brought a number of practical achievements in fields of infrastructure, agriculture, education and health after three-year-implementation since Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s attendance to the WEF Davos 2017.

The Agreement has made contributions to enhancing the bilateral relationship more practically and effectively, said Binh. He highly appraised the meaning of launching the Agreement, supposing that the cooperation agreement with Viet Nam will become a model for the WEF to consider expanding cooperation with other nations in ASEAN.

For his side, Borge Brende asserted that the WEF expects to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam after successfully realizing the cooperation agreement and specific activities, expressing his hope to join hands with Viet Nam to soon launch the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the model of connecting with other WEF’s Centers for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the world to support the nation to promote research and improve the effectiveness of joining the Industry 4.0.

He handed over the Report on finalizing the cooperation agreement, in which the WEF has proposed recommendations and consultancy for Viet Nam in socio-economic development.

The Viet Nam-WEF cooperation agreement focuses on supporting Viet Nam to effectively enforce free trade agreements (FTAs), accelerate administrative reforms, strengthen competitiveness, and develop information technology infrastructure and human resources.

The same day, the Vietnamese Deputy PM met Head of the Regional Agenda, Asia-Pacific of the WEF Justin Wood and Vice President for Global Public Policy, Amazon Web Services Michael Punke.
