At the meetings, Deputy PM, FM Minh called on Cyprus, Sweden and Portugal to back early signing and ratification of the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement (EVFTA) that was adopted by the European Commission on October 17.

He also asked the three European countries to support Viet Nam to win a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council in tenure 2020-2021, affirming Viet Nam is ready to coordinate with partners in regional and international issues for peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity.

The officials of Cyprus, Sweden and Portugal pledged to coordinate with Viet Nam at both bilateral and multilateral aspects and advocate early ratification of the EVFTA.

The sides shared common views on regional and international issues, underling the importance of maintaining peace, stability and cooperation amid complicated changes of the global situation, ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation, and settling disputes through peaceful measures on the basis of international law./.
