This is the second geopark in Southeast Asia and the first one in Việt Nam admitted to the GGN.

The Đồng Văn Stone Plateau is located in four districts of Quản Bạ, Yên Minh, Đồng Văn, and Mèo Vạc in the northernmost province of Hà Giang, at the altitude of 1,400-1,600m.

The plateau is a special limestone region with typical hallmarks of the earth’s crush, natural phenomena, and unique landscapes.

At the ceremony, Secretary General of UNESCO Việt Nam National Committee Phạm Sanh Châu stressed that the recognition of the plateau as the world’s geopark will surely facilitate poverty reduction and socio-economic development in Hà Giang and Việt Nam as well.
