The plan was issued for 2022-2026 in response to the Secretariat's Directive No. 15-CT/TW dated August 8, 2022, on economic diplomacy for national development by 2030.

Directive No.15 of the Secretariat defines: "Economic diplomacy is a fundamental and central task of Viet Nam's diplomacy, an important driving force for rapid and sustainable development of the country". Also, the Directive sets out the fundamental economic and diplomatic orientations and tasks in the new development period.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the critical role of diplomats, ambassadors, chiefs of the Vietnamese representative offices and trade counsellors in the Party's foreign policies, including economic diplomacy, amid the rapid, complex and unpredictable developments in the global situation.

He asked the diplomatic sector, ministries, agencies, localities and businesses to maximize the country's position and potential and work harder for the country's peace, security and development.

The leader also emphasized the need to utilize free trade agreements, and consider establishing long-term, stable economic-trade cooperation frameworks with potential partners, stay updated on the market, step up investment promotion, and connect domestic firms with foreign partners.

Besides, the Prime Minister suggested that Vietnamese ambassadors and representative agencies in foreign countries closely coordinate with ministries, localities and enterprises to synchronously implement solutions which promote export and diversify markets, products and supply chains.

He said all opportunities should be optimized to lure external resources for green transition and sustainable development./.
