Diplomatic sector missioned to promote vanguard role in peace building

VGP – The diplomatic sector is missioned to promote its vanguard role in building and preserving peaceful environment conducive to national development, innovation and improvement of the country’s international position, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung told reporters.

Trung made the above statement on Saturday in an interview on the sidelines of the 13^th National Party Congress when he was asked about the sector’s next-five-year mission stated in draft documents submitted to the Congress.

For the first time, three pillars of diplomacy, including Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy, are stated in the Congress’ documents, Trung said.

This year’s Congress stressed the need to further elevate the role of multilateral diplomacy and to actively contribute to the building and shaping of multilateral institutions.

The documents highlight the diplomatic sector’s responsibility for closely monitoring regional and global situation for swift responses.

Trung said the sector will brief external partners about the foreign policy off the 13^th National Party Congress as well as measures to be taken to foster cooperation between Viet Nam and the international community for mutual benefits and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world./.
