VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott A. Nathan witnessed the handover of a US$70 million financial loan for Fulbright University in Viet Nam to advance higher education and workforce development in Washington D.C., on May 12 (local time).
Pham asked the DFC to support Viet Nam in such areas as green transition, circular economy, renewable energy, climate change response, digital transformation, and addressing the war aftermaths – including the consequences of Agent Orange and the search for the remains of martyrs.
He suggested the two sides promote cooperation in sustainable development of the Mekong River against the backdrops of rising sea level, so as to improve the material and spiritual life of people in the region.
The Government chief took the occasion to seek DFC’s loans with preferential interest rates and flexible procedures – including financial incentives for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
In reply, Nathan said that many cooperation projects between the two sides have been carried out very effectively.
DFC looks forward to promoting cooperation with Viet Nam in such areas like climate change response, renewable energy, development of the Mekong River region, and inclusive development finance in the coming time./.
