Phan reassured that Viet Nam always views the U.S. as one of its important partners, expressing his wish that both countries would soon reach a fair and balanced reciprocal trade agreement.
Viet Nam will actively coordinate with the U.S. so that the latter would soon remove Viet Nam from the D1 and D3 lists restricting exports of high-tech products in a bid to promote bilateral cooperation, thereby bringing benefits to the two countries.
As the two countries have advanced defense ties in a practical and appropriate manner, Phan urged the two countries to further focus on the exchange of delegations at all levels, maintenance of consultation and dialogue mechanisms, traning, United Nations-led peacekeeping operations, cybersecurity, humanitarian assistance, and search and rescue.
He called on Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to continue support for increasingly stronger and more substantive defense cooperation, thus contributing to the advancement of the relationship between the two countries.
Phan expressed his wish that the U.S. Department of State would effectively implement its commitments to help Viet Nam complete dioxin remediation at Bien Hoa airbase area by 2030.
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will coordinate closely with and create the most favorable conditions for the U.S. to search for and repatriate the remains of missing American servicemen.
Phan called on the U.S. to help Viet Nam in the search for remains of soldiers as the Southeast Asian country has launched a nationwide "500-Day-and-Night Campaign" to speed up efforts to identify and repatriate martyrs' remains.
Phan also said Viet Nam welcomes the U.S. participation in the 3rd International Defense Expo scheduled to take place in December 2026.
