The meeting took place on the occasion of his working visit to Japan to attend the 30th Future of Asia Conference.
Nguyen suggested the former Prime Minister voice his support for enhancing all-level delegation exchanges between the two nations.
He called on Japan to assist Viet Nam in its industrialization and modernization efforts, build an independent and self-reliant economy, and promote economic and trade cooperation and integration while ensuring economic security.
He urged Japan to help Viet Nam implement research and development initiatives and carry out projects in high-tech industries, semiconductors, energy transition, and green transition within the framework of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) initiative.
Kishida, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the warm affection and support from the leaders and people of Viet Nam toward Japan and himself in the various positions he has held.

The same day, Nguyen also had a meeting with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Muto Yoji, during which the former suggested METI would closely coordinate with Viet Nam's ministries and agencies to promote the implementation of high-level commitments between the two countries—especially the outcomes of Prime Minister Ishiba's recent visit to Viet Nam—in key areas such as energy, green transition, industry, and the development of a new pillar of cooperation in science and technology.
He called on the METI continue to support Viet Nam in its efforts toward industrialization and modernization, build an independent and self-reliant economy, and implement strategic breakthroughs in institutions, human resources, and infrastructure.
Viet Nam stands ready to work with Japan in developing high-quality human resources, considering it as a strategic priority in their bilateral ties to meet each country's development needs in response to emerging global trends, said Nguyen.
The Deputy Prime Minister proposed that Japan continue to assist Viet Nam in speeding up green and digital transitions, effectively carrying out 15 emission reduction projects with a total scale of over US$20 billion in Viet Nam under the AZEC initiative.
He also emphasized the need to strengthen ties in sectors such as semiconductors, green energy, and artificial intelligence (AI).
In the context of increasingly complex global trade developments, both sides should further promote trade exchanges and Japan would create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to be exported to its market./.
