Addressing the event, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed the symposium establish a comprehensive approach to unify understanding and action regarding the conservation and promotion of geopark values for sustainable development.

It is essential to integrate the principles of sustainable development into policies for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection, natural environment preservation, and the cultural identity of communities, he suggested.

This requires harmonizing the relationships between conservation and development, economic benefits and environmental protection, traditional and modern values; as well as internal development and international cooperation, he added.

Bui underlined the importance of enhancing experience exchange, providing appropriate policy recommendations on the management, conservation, and sustainable development of global geoparks, and promoting multilateral partnerships and international cooperation in developing global geoparks in conjunction with sustainable growth.

The event is held from September 5-17 with a scale of about 800-1,000 international delegates representing 100 geoparks from 90 countries and territories around the world.

APGN is established under Article 18 of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) Statues as a Asia Pacific Region member for Regional Geopark Networks.

Regional Geopark Networks serve for the coordination of GGN activities at a regional or continental level and as fora for the exchange of information and cooperation between Global Geoparks and Global Geopark professionals in the region.

The activities of Regional Geopark Networks include the organization of Regional Geopark Conferences, workshops and seminars, capacity building activities, common projects, promotional activities and common publications./.
