Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang visits victims of armed attacks in Dak Lak

VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on Monday visited families of the victims of gun attacks that killed two commune leaders and four policemen in the central highlands province of Dak Lak.

The Deputy Prime Minister visited the families of Nguyen Van Kien, the late Party secretary of Ea Ktur Commune, and Nguyen Van Dung, the late chairman of Ea Tieu Commune. They were killed on the way to the communes' People's Committee offices after hearing the offices were attacked on Sunday morning.

He also visited two police officers Ea Ktur Commune who were injured and are being treated at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital.

26 arrested, weapons seized

On early Sunday morning, a group of armed persons attacked the People's Committee offices of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes in Dak Lak's Cu Kuin district.

Local authorities have quickly taken measures to stabilize the situation, support the bereaved families and the injured, and urged local residents to stay calm and follow authorities' instructions to ensure safety.

By 11:30am this morning, authorities arrested 26 suspects and seized a number of weapons, according to Lieutenant General To An Xo, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security.

"Efforts to hunt down the remaining fugitives will continue," he added./.
