Phan expressed his satisfaction with the positive and substantive cooperation between the two countries, particularly in politics-diplomacy, defense, security, economy-trade, and mutual support at multilateral forums.

He expressed confidence that the Philippines would successfully fulfil its important role as the ASEAN Chair in 2026.

The host congratulated the Armed Forces of the Philippines on the successful organization of the ASEAN military and defense meetings in 2026, making important contributions to the bloc's unity and centrality.

Phan acknowledged the positive outcomes of cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries in recent years.

He proposed that the two sides continue to work closely together to effectively implement the common perceptions on military and defense cooperation, as well as the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation.

Viet Nam's Ministry of National Defense would continue to create the most favorable conditions for the armed forces of the two countries to further strengthen their cooperation, he noted.

Brawner Jr., for his part, reported the outcomes of his talks with Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Tan Cuong.

He emphasized that the signing of the MoU on defense cooperation between the two countries during General Secretary and President To Lam's recent visit to the Philippines, provided an important foundation for further strengthening the bilateral defense ties./.
