Bui expressed his delight at the strong development of the bilateral relations, especially following the upgrade of the relationship into a comprehensive strategic partnership during the recent visit to Viet Nam by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon in February.
He suggested New Zealand further open its market to Viet Nam's agricultural products to diversify supply chains and strive for a bilateral trade turnover of US$3 billion by 2026, as well as double the two-way investment.
He also called on New Zealand to continue providing official development assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam and foster stronger ties in education.
Peters welcomed Viet Nam's role as the coordinator for ASEAN–New Zealand relations and expected to further promote ASEAN–New Zealand ties, with a view toward establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership framework between the bloc and New Zealand in the near future.
Both sides pledged to speed up the implementation of the agreements and outcomes achieved during the New Zealand Prime Minister's recent visit, particularly by expediting the development of an action program to carry out the newly upgraded partnership framework.
They discussed measures to enhance coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations, including New Zealand's advocate for Viet Nam's candidacies to key United Nations bodies.
Both diplomats vowed to strengthen New Zealand's cooperation with Mekong sub-regional mechanisms and Viet Nam's cooperation with Pacific island nations./.
