Deputy PM Le Minh Khai meets U.S. officials in Washington DC
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai had separate meetings with some U.S. officials and business leaders in Washington DC as part of his ongoing tour to the U.S.

Specifically, he met with Senior Advisor to President Biden for International Climate Policy John Podesta, head of the White House Council of Economic Advisers Jared Bernstein, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Nisha Biswal.
He also attended a business roundtable, and hosted a reception for John Neuffer, President and CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
Upbeat about semiconductor industry in Viet Nam
During a reception for Neffer, Deputy Prime Minister Le treasured the SIA’s efforts to spur cooperation with Viet Nam in semiconductor development, saying the country is building legal corridors to cooperate with other countries, including the U.S. in this domain.
In reply, Neffer spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government's efforts to develop the semiconductor industry and high-quality personnel, and advance renewable energy transition.
He expressed his belief in the success of the semiconductor industry in Viet Nam, expecting that Viet Nam will create more optimal conditions for the SIA’s member companies, and committed to supporting the country in the sector.
U.S. businesses hail Vietnamese Government’s management
At the roundtable, co-chaired by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) with the participation of nearly 30 leading US enterprises, Deputy Prime Minister Le underscored the importance of the Viet Nam-U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership which is expected to further facilitate U.S. investment in Viet Nam.
USABC President and CEO Ted Osius said U.S. businesses are interested in the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
He took the occasion to call upon the Vietnamese Government to continue improving policies and institutions to attract more U.S. enterprises in such areas as technology, renewable energy, health care, and aviation.
Viet Nam – one of DFC's leading partners
Meeting with DFC Deputy Chief Executive Officer Biswal, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister highly spoke of the DFC’s priorities, saying they are appropriate with Viet Nam’s aspirations.
He suggested DFC continue its support for Viet Nam in infrastructure, renewable energy, science-technology, and innovation.
Biswal said the DFC is working to expand its operation in Viet Nam and open an office in the Southeast Asian nation as recommended by President Joe Biden.
Viet Nam is one of DFC's leading partners in the region and the DFC has increased its investment in the country from US$15 million to US$150 million over the last two years.
The Deputy Prime Minister also met with representatives from U.S. businesses as Intel, Dell, Apple and Boeing in which they assessed that Viet Nam is among the most potential markets in the region and U.S. enterprises are increasingly interested in the country, and pledge long-term operation there./.
