Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải pointed out that the sector's growth is insignificant compared to the economy's demand. “Generally, transport growth rate must be 1.2-1.5 times higher than that of GDP”, said the Deputy PM.
According to the Deputy PM, the sector should take urgent and strategic measures to deal with three "overloaded" issues: capital, capacity and investment procedures. The sector, first and foremost, must build up a “framework” for planning strategies in order to maintain a sustainable and consistent operation.
“It is necessary to mobilize different sources of capital, especially BOT. We must even draw up specific policies on BOT for transport”, suggested the Deputy PM.
Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải also asked the sector to find “different and breakthrough” solutions for its burning problems, including site clearance, traffic accident, and administrative reforms./.
