Speaking at the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2019 on October 18, Dam hailed the event as being of importance to HCM City and the whole nation, stating that turning Ho Chi Minh City into a regional and international financial hub is not only the desire of the city but also a task of the country.
Ho Chi Minh City is now the largest economic and financial center in Viet Nam, and has the great potential to become a financial hub on a regional and international scale, he said.
The official noted that throughout the last 30 years, Viet Nam has sustained stable growth, and has always been among the fastest-growing economies in the world.
Viet Nam has reported a growth rate of 6-8% in the past decades, and is striving to reach annual growth rate of over 7% in the next 10 years.
Despite the fact that Ho Chi Minh City is a center taking the lead in technology and administrative and educational reforms, other cities and provinces nationwide, especially those in the Southeastern region, should join hands to support Ho Chi Minh City for mutual development, Deputy PM Dam insisted./.
