Deputy Foreign Minister highlights significance of first Viet Nam-Singapore strategic dialogue
VGP – The first Viet Nam-Singapore strategic dialogue is expected to become a direct substantive channel for both countries to exchange experience in Party building, policy-making, national governance and development, and other strategic matters, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong.

Nguyen made the above statement in a recent interview ahead of Politburo member, Standing member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu's official visit to Singapore from August 24-25.
This dialogue mechanism was established during General Secretary and President To Lam's State visit to Singapore last May, said the Deputy Foreign Minister, adding that Viet Nam is the first Southeast Asian nation to have set up this kind of dialogue with Singapore's People's Action Party.
During the dialogue, both sides will engage in extensive discussions on various strategic matters of shared interests and key cooperation areas between the two Parties and the two countries, including technology connectivity and human resource training, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1973, Viet Nam and Singapore have built up a fine relationship featuring with increasingly high political trust, intertwinement of interests, and dynamic cooperation.
Political trust has been translated by both sides into practical cooperation interests, notably marked by the elevation of the bilateral ties to strategic partnership in 2013 and comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025.
Singapore is one of Viet Nam's top economic partners as the neighboring country has poured US$97 billion in 4,500 active investment projects in Viet Nam. The network of 28 Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Parks has become a remarkable symbol of bilateral economic cooperation./.
