The new proposal was submitted to the Prime Minister who requested that the tourism market should by re-started no later than the end of April and ideally at the end of March.

Reopening international travel

The MCST suggested that from March 15, international and domestic travel activities by aviation, road, and sea should be restored.

Incoming foreign visitors must show valid proof of full vaccination or COVID-19 recovery, as well as a pre-departure negative coronavirus result obtained within the previous 72 hours.

Foreign visitors are requested to furnish medical or travel insurance including coverage for COVID-19 treatment worth at least US$50,000 and book a package tour. Children under 12 years old traveling with a parent or guardian do not require a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19.

Domestic tourism resumption in line with disease risk levels

Regarding domestic tourism activities, the ministry proposed localities reopen the local tourism markets in accordance with risk levels while preventive measures are on place.

Viet Nam will remove curbs on all international passenger flights from February 15.

The Southeast Asian country had gradually resumed international flights with 15 markets from the beginning of this year while easing quarantine requirements, with vaccinated passengers now needing only three days of self-isolation./.
