Consumer price index falls to three-year low
VGP – The consumer price index (CPI) in 2019 fells to three-year low, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The CPI in December this year increased by 1.4% and 5.23% compared to that of the previous month and December last year, respectively, which was mainly attributed to rising prices of electricity, healthcare services, and school fees.
In addition, pork price soared 11.79% while prices of beverage, tobacco, public transport services also slightly picked up, reported the GSO.
The GSO said this year’s core inflation climbed up by 2.01% against the previous year and 0.68% compared to the previous month.
The low CPI rate was among positive signals of the Vietnamese economy which expanded 7.02% this year.
Other positive figures include trade volume surpassing US$ 500 billion and foreign arrivals reaching new record of over 18 million./.
