Viet Nam established diplomatic relations with Hungary and Romania on February 3, 1950.

Viet Nam and Hungary upgraded ties to a comprehensive partnership during former General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Hungary in 2018.

Trade between the two countries reached US$506.7 millon in the first seven months of 2024, a decrease of 11.7 percent against the same period of 2023, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Meanwhile, the relations between Viet Nam and Romania are developing in all fields, including politics, diplomacy, economics, security and defense, culture, and education and training.

The two-way trade grew by 37.5 percent in the first eight months of 2024 to over US$350 million.

From 2019 to 2023, the bilateral trade rose more than 1.65-fold, but it represented only 0.06 percent of Viet Nam's total trade and 0.2 percent of Romania's./.
