The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the statement in response to reporters’ queries about Việt Nam’s reaction to the February 3 defense exercise of China’s South Sea Fleet as reported by China Radio International two days later.

She went on to say that the exercise ran counter to the ASEAN-China Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and negatively affected peace and stability in the region.

Việt Nam requests China to put an end to all actions that violate Việt Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago, not to let similar affairs occur in the future and join relevant parties to strictly implement DOC, thus contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea, stressed the spokesperson.
