Chair of VinFuture Prize Council: VinFuture Prize 2022 will “reshape” post-pandemic world

Recently, in an interview with Technode Global after the 2022 VinFuture Award Ceremony, Professor Sir Richard Henry Friend, Chair of the VinFuture Prize Council, explained why global network technology was selected for the VinFuture Grand Prize in season two.
The world is witnessing the astounding development of many new technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, 5G/6G, and others. Yet these technological advancements would not have been realized without global network technology.
Global network technology has changed the world, and billions of people benefit from it. In particular, the significance of global network technology increased exponentially during the pandemic, with 50 percent of all data since this invention was launched being shared during these two years.
Regarding the connection between global network technology and this year's theme, "Reviving and Reshaping", the President stated that COVID-19 was one of the biggest crises that humanity has had to face in the past several decades.
However, the world quickly recovered as soon as the epidemic was controlled. This was because global network technology maintained global connections despite two years of quarantines and self-isolation worldwide.
According to the Professor, global network technology is reshaping the world more sustainably. In the past two years, global network technology has fundamentally changed how we communicate, work, and move, reducing energy consumption and waste and improving the environment.
VinFuture evaluates projects comprehensively, paying attention to multi-faceted relationships. Many individual research projects can never reach their goals or be applied in real life, but they create significant breakthroughs when combined.
