Leaders of all 63 cities and provinces attended the meeting via virtual format.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham said Viet Nam's economy still maintained its upward growth trajectory in January-September period amid complex and unpredictable evolution of the global situation and heavy impact of Typhoon Yagi.

The Vietnamese economy expanded 7.4 percent in the first quarter, from July to September, defying all expectations compared to 5.66 percent and 6.93 percent in the first and second quarters, respectively, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The third quarter's figure is 0.7 percent higher than the target of 7 percent set by the Government in the beginning of this year,

In the first nine months of 2024, the economy grew 6.82 percent compared to 5.33 percent of the same period last year.

Noticeably, a large number of localities reported high GRDP including Bac Giang (13.89 percent), Thanh Hoa (12.46 percent), Lai Chau (11.63 percent), Ha Nam (10.89 percent).

Some localities badly hit by Typhoon Yagi still maintained high growth rates such as Hai Phong (9.77 percent), Quang Ninh (8.02 percent), Phu Tho (9.56 percent), Lao Cai (7.71 percent), Cao Bang (7 percent), and Yen Bai (7.15 percent).

CPI increased by 3.88 percent while inflation up by 2.69 percent from the same period last year./.
