In 2024, Viet Nam and Brazil celebrated 35 years of diplomatic relations, built on a foundation of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect, noted Vieira.

Viet Nam has become an important partner of Brazil in Southeast Asia, with a trade turnover reaching a new record of US$7.7 billion last year. Brazil considers Viet Nam as a reliable friend and a key partner in the Southern Hemisphere.

Brazil highly treasures economic partnership with Viet Nam, as reflected in its commitment to expanding bilateral trade with the Southeast Asian nation, he shared.

Since Silva took over as the head of state again in 2023, the bilateral relations have gained significant momentum with the historic visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Brazil in September 2023 as a key milestone, the first-ever visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister, told the Brazilian diplomat.

According to the minister, during the two leaders' meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in November last year, Lula and Pham took a historic step in elevating the bilateral relationship into a strategic partnership. This milestone reflects the strength of diplomatic ties and the longstanding friendship between Brazil and Viet Nam.

The elevation of the bilateral ties also underscores the two sides' shared agenda and common vision for a global governance system rooted in peace and development.

Both nations are committed to pursuing multilateralism, the rule of law, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, with the United Nations at the core of the international system. The two countries share a common aspiration for stability, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Brazil is currently developing an action plan for the implementation of the strategic partnership, which will serve as a roadmap for cooperation in key areas, including defense, science, technology, innovation, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and energy transition./.
