The visit will be made at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Luong Cuong.
This is President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's second first visit to Viet Nam and the only Brazilian leader to have visited the Southeast Asian nation since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1989.
During his upcoming visit, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is expected to hold talks with the Vietnamese President, meet with other top Vietnamese leaders and participate in various activities aimed at strengthening economic, trade, and investment ties between the two countries.
Brazil remains Viet Nam's largest trade partner in Latin America, a region with significant potential that aligns with Viet Nam's strategy to diversify its markets and supply chains.
In 2024, bilateral trade exceeded US$7.5 billion. The two countries targeted to raise the two-way trade turnover to US$10 billion by 2025 and US$15 billion by 2030.
Both sides issued a joint statement on elevating their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership in Rio de Janeiro on November 17, 2024 on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s tour to the Latin American nation to attend the G20 Summit./.
