Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng emphasized that the construction of the US$ 1.2 billion factories invested by the Hong Kong-based Lee & Man Group will help promote socio-economic development in the province. This is a good chance for Hậu Giang in particular and Việt Nam in general to attract more investors and economic groups from China, said the Deputy PM.
This is the ever biggest investment project in the Mekong Delta. The two mills are built in a land plot of 200 ha. After the estimated construction of 14 months, the paper mill with a capacity of 420,000 tons/year and the pulp factory with an annual productivity of 330,000 are expected to provide jobs for 6,000 local workers.
